Happy Birthday Norm! It's been one of those weekends. Yesterday morning we got up and all went well. Our neighbor removed a tree from his yard, cut it up and gave us the firewood for our fire pit. We had a nice chat with our other neighbor who was telling us about evenutally selling his house and moving to the Outter Banks of NC, and the kids all had fun when we all got in the pool.
We were all set for a wonderful evening full of fun to celebrate Norm's Birthday. We had just got out of the pool, when our friends got here. Jamie was just getting pictures of the birthday cake, when Jadan came running in the house crying that his foot hurt. After closer examination I realized he had somehow got a splinter in his foot, even though we have told them time and time again to wear shoes outside. I am no good example, as I rarely wear shoes anyhow...so I went about removing the splinter from his foot.
WHILE removing the splinter from his foot, apparently the kids were outside playing baseball when someone comes running in telling us "Nick, is bleeding." We all assumed that he had fallen and skinned his knee or something...then in a panic...it's HIS FACE IS BLEEDING!!! We all panicked..and off runs Jamie to check on Nick. Samuel had somehow in a swing smacked the little guy with a baseball bat and caught him just above the eyebrow. Jamie has a panic attack and I took over...I got his face somewhat cleaned up and found out he was going to need stitches...and off they went to the hospital.
Meanwhile, I went back inside to finish removing the splinter from Jadan's foot. I finally got that out and the kids went on playing. I started potato salad and had just walked in the office when Norm comes hobbling in from the backyard. They were playing volley ball when Jadan ran under the net and Norm went for the ball. He ended up stepping on Jadan and hyperextended his ankle....so off to the ER we went.
The word travel's fast about what has happen at our house in the ER and Quick Care, and we are all getting teased and told we need to stop partying so hard....LOL.
Well we end up in rooms across from one another, so I can monitor Norm, who is fine as long as he is sitting down, and Nick who wants Aunt "Ella" and Uncle Norm. So I am going back and forth. They took Norm down for X-rays and I am over with Nick, Jamie and Stan.
Norm finally gets back from X-ray, and they start stitching Nick up, and he ends up with three stitches. We are all just belly laughing at the little guy, because in his panic and lack of drugs apparently his imagination runs wild. Nick says squirrels live in coconut trees and eat coconuts....then tells the story of his "Bella" (new, toy rat terrier puppy) and "Snoopy" (pet, beagle) love to play and Bella bites Snoopy's weewee. Then the conversation goes on about how the wizard stole his eyes and a little troll gives them back and then the Troll steals his hair and it was blonde and when the wizard gave it back it was black. I guess shock tends to give his little mind some bizzare thoughts.
Norm, meanwhile,is dealing with the nurse taking his life history, and only half paying attention, listening to Nick and just laughing like crazy.
Interestingly enough they were released at the same time and we headed back home. Finally home....
We had dinner and went on to have cake. I put my darling birthday boy in Vicodine land and then we had some fun playing cards....Norm is funny on vicodine!
By this time everyone is exhausted and I make Norm go to bed and give him something to help him sleep....Night Night...LOL.
