Kings Dominion, what a RIDE!

Yesterday, we took the kids to King's Dominion, and they had a blast. We got up early, and althought I forgot to grab several things on the way out the door, we all had a great time, and fortunately I was the only one as usual that got sunburn. They were all worn out and blissfully cranky on the way home...thank heaven for aportable DVD player.

Here are just a few of the pictures I took. I am sure at some point I will post more, at a later time.

Challenge: ScapGirls.com, using this lace freebie.

I spent most of the day recovering from yesterday's outting, and haven't done much, so I hope to catch up on my challenges sometime next week, once the kids are back in school and Norm is back to work. In the meantime, I am going to enjoy spending the rest of my weekend with my family.

Spring Break is here!

*Click on the images for a larger view.

This picture was taken on Easter. Norm was pulling something out of the closet and the boys discovered our collection of cowboy hats. We had a little fun with the camera, more layouts to come. I have been busy today, starting to put my photography business in order, and have been busy but managed to get a few layouts done.

Challenge: ScrapGirls.com, Monday - The Sky is the Limit!
This picture was taken by my six year old (Jadan). A few weeks ago while outside he asked to take a picture, and this is what he came up with. It's amazing to look at the world from this angle, the eyes of a six year old, and to see the sky in the background as you look up to the one's who love you most. He did a wonderful job. He not only got both of us in the picture...but as the challenge says "The Sky Is The Limit."...I think I may have a budding photographer in the making.

The flowers in the layout, were from my husband. I am a lucky girl, he does little things like this occasionally...LOL.

Easter 2008

***CLICK ON IMAGES FOR A LARGER/BETTER VIEW***

These pictures were taken yesterday while we were dying eggs....a WHOLE bunch of eggs. We will be having egg salad and deviled eggs in the next day or so...LOL.

The kids had a blast, and wanted to dye every egg in the house.

Breanna and daddy dancing. I love the bottom picture of her feet on top of his. I hope Breanna will grow up to cherish these memories of her and her father, what a special relationship they have. I am so blessed to have him for a father to my children. I couldn't asked for a more devoted father to them.

Thest pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago. I was upstairs, Norm was at work, Breanna and Samuel hadn't got home yet from school. The boys were quiet, and that usually means they are up to something. I called them and no one said anything or came upstairs...uh oh....I went down to find them sleeping practically on top of one another on the couch...what a precious sight.

**On a side note, a Jadan funny: Tuesday Norm started his vacation, and was laying down as he has had a cold (again)..and I was upstairs in the office again...Jadan and the rest were downstairs. I have told them time and again about sitting on the back of the couch, and window sill. I hear the dogs bark, and figured Norm had woke up and went outside to get the mail, or empty the trash or something..anyhow, Jadan comes upstairs, with a bewildered look on his face. He was mumbling something about he didn't know what happen...one minute he was in the living room and the next outside. I was like "What?"....I had no clue what he was talking about. He said come here and I will show you....I walked down the stairs, and noticed that he had mulch on the back of his head....STRANGE!...He had fallen about three feet from my living room window, pushing the screen out, onto the flower/mulch bed under the window...and couldn't figure out how that happened. I made sure he was OK while upstairs, and couldn't do anything but laugh at him when I found out what had happened. It hurt his pride for about three seconds, until he found out he wasn't in trouble, then he was bragging to the rest that he fell out the window. I asked him was he going to play on the back of the couch again...to which I got a firm, "NO!"...guess he won't do that again.

This picture was taken by Breanna on March 13th. I was sick, Norm had duty, and the kids and I were cuddling on the couch watching TV until their bedtime. Jadan had just pulled his second top tooth, about five minutes before the picture was taken. There is another layout below of his request for the Easter bunny to bring him his two front teeth. (PS - they know who the Easter Bunny is.)

Remembering Easter 2006

Challenge: ScrapGirls.com - Tuesday Freebie, Pink Camouflage

This is a picture of my daughter taken back at Easter 2006. My husband was out to sea with VFA-34 Blue Blasters, Strike Fighter Squadron from NAS Oceana at the time, aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln.

Some of the families got together at the picnic pavilions at NAS Oceana, for a party for the children. Serving as Ombudsman for the squadron, I was there along with various others. They all had fun with a HUGE Easter egg hunt, bounce house, and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Thanks for taking a peek!

March 9 - 15, 2008 - week in Review

3/15/08, Challenge: Scrap Girls.com - Color Challenge, Purple & Green

(Picture March 13th) Norm had duty one day this week and since I was sick, me and the kids crashed out in the living room watching TV. Jadan was on the couch next to me when he informed me that he had a loose tooth. I looked and sure enough it was hanging by just a tiny piece of skin. I told him he should go pull it, and out it popped. I love the "two front teeth" smile he gives me now and it's funny how they speak differently when just those two teeth are missing. He is proudly asking the Easter Bunny to bring his two front teeth for Easter, somehow I don't think he's going to get that wish that quickly...but it was fun doing a layout to remember this.

3/12/08, Challenge: Scrap Girls.com - Freebie Challenge use the worn seal brush "On this date"

I have been sick all week so Norm grabbed the camera one afternoon and took the kids outside, and let them play with sidewalk chalk. Of course the child and artist in him had to get involved in the drawing as well....but here is one of the pictures he snagged for me to scrap.

Spring, Spring, Spring...Sniffle

Yep, you guessed it....everyone else has been sick now it's my turn. This is the only part about Spring that I hate. I woke up Sunday morning stopped up, ok..take meds, feel better...then Monday morning it hits hard. Stopped up, and tired, and all that goes along with sinuses...no fever so I don't think it's a cold..but who knows, right?

Anywho....here it is Tuesday, and life goes on. I did do several scraps this weekend before I started feeling like crap, so here they are.

This was a digital rescrap of a paper scrap from Jordan's Baby Book. Scrap Girls Challenge:2nd week of March - National Bubbles Week, Strange but true...so here is a BUBBLE LAYOUT.

This is my favorite four year old, who had a birthday (March 3rd) and we finally got to celebrate his birthday this past weekend. Isn't my adopted nephew adorable?

Of course since I did the two silly layouts last week, Jadan was like DO ONE FOR ME MOM...and wouldn't hush until I did a layout for him. Here are a few pictures snapped about a week ago of him outside helping daddy clean up the yard....lots of work, sitting in the wagon getting covered in leaves, huh? He loves spending time with his daddy, and it always does my heart good to watch Norm with the kids, I couldn't ask for better father to my children.

As if one weren't enough, I ended up doing a second layout for him on Saturday. Scrap Girls Challenge: National Raising a Reader Week/Cat In The Hat Birthday, use red and white.

Spring fever/Silly boy

I have been scrapping again...lol, what else is new right? Today's Challenge at Scrap Girls was to scraplift (take a layout from another member and create something using their idea, colors, layout arrangement...the options are endless) so I chose one and this is what I come up with. (For the Scrap Girls that visit, all the linking information can be found in the details on Scrap Girls.)

Here is my silly boy, Jordan. This was a welcomed layout since, if you read below, he was sick a couple of days earlier this week. Kids bounce back from the ickies, and I was glad this time was somewhat an easy time. Later the day we got back from the ER, he was all better and we were discussing how silly he can be, he got his tickle box turned over and couldn't quit laughing for a while. I love the sound of my children's laughter, smiles, and giggles. He simply cracked me up.

Later in the afternoon when the rest of the kids got home from school, we went outside. I was grabbing the test strips out of the pool box to test the pool chemicals and Samuel found the strap that went around the throw for one of the chairs on the pool deck. I didn't think anything about it as I no longer use it. Norm had just got home from TAP Class and Samuel comes running upstairs and starts jumping around doing Kung Fu moves (guess he's watched too much Jackie Chan)...anyway I grabbed the camera...LOL, I love scrapping funny moments. Spring is in the air and he certainly has Spring fever. Here is my "Seriously Funny" child.

Happy Upcoming Un-Anniversary, Overcoming Divorce

Quote on the scrap page:

Life may change, but not fly;
Hope may vanish, but can not die;
Truth be veiled, but still burneth;
Love repulsed, but it returneth

~Percy Bysshe Shelley

I am not part of the Scrap Girl Book Club, but I read their challenge, and decided to combine their challenge with Tuesday's Freebie challenge.

My Muse: My parents married March 29, 1969, and the following April I was born. When I was twelve they divorced. It was not pretty, and to this day you can't mention one to the other. I have always felt like I was walking on egg shells around them, and matured very quickly because of their divorce. Being the only child, all of the burden fell on my shoulders, trying to live two seperate lives, depending on which parent I was with. Life would be so much easier if we could all just get along on some sort of understanding level that God created each one of us and as such we should be respectful that this person was uniquely created. Agree to disagree, and for your grandchildren's sake, do not make them feel inferior because of anger they know nothing about or should have to experience. You were in love at one point after all, can you not find something in your heart that justifies being civil, you know forgive like the "Instruction Manual/Bible" says? It doesn't mean that you can't be guarded, but why keep rehashing old stuff, and be bitter for the rest of your life. Let those in your life remain there...but don't cause a shadow for others to stumble and fall over.

My relationship with both of them have been rocky at times, over the years. I learned from their "marriage mistake", but had it not happen I wouldn't be here. I have to say that sacrafice has played a major roll in my own marriage, being a military family isn't easy. Through it all, I have overcome, I have survived. On May 17th, Norm and I will celebrate twenty years of marriage.

Not only would I not be here, but nor would I have met one of the most special people in my life, my step dad. He meant so much to me, and helped me grow into becoming the woman I am today. He always taught me to look into my own heart, and not always worry about pleasing everyone else. He taught me to care what other people thought, but to do what I thought was best, and follow my heart. Let the rest of the world get used to the idea or handle it the best way they could....everyone eventually comes around, love will find a way...or is it really love/selfishness others seek.

Today, he is gone, but he still holds a special place in my heart. Mom is living her life, and we talk frequently. I don't always agree with her choices, but she is my mom, and I respect that. Usually I am just like yeah, whatever, and listen to her babble about whatever has her panties in a knot today. Dad is remarried, and we talk infrequently, but he has his own life. When we chat it is usually pretty superficial: How's the weather, Good to chat with you too....love you, bye. So I really don't know much about him. He remarried once my uncle passed away, they lived together until he passed. Other than knowing my dad's wife's first name, and that I have at least two much older step siblings, which I certainly don't know anything about, life goes on. They all seem to think from what I gather that I don't care about my dad, since I don't have a close relationship with my dad like I used to. When Dad had his heart surgery I got a nice earful, about how seemingly selfish I was because I wasn't there, and even dad told me to stay here and take care of my family...but that's another story.

I guess the biggest thing I have learned over the years is: "Be happy....with me in your life, or kept at arms length...everyone needs to do what makes them happy." If you can stand living in your own skin, then what difference does it make what everyone else thinks. I am not one to force my way into anyone's world....so love me for me...or they can kiss my ass. I don't have to bow down to anyone, or reform to anyone's standards anymore. Am I brash, sassy, or being a selfish bitch? I just try to be honest with everyone, and I am tired of tiptoeing through life, and sugar coating the truth. Remember you aren't the only one with feelings...I have feelings, that have just as much meaning as the one's you express. Many times, I have been told that I am nothing but a child, with my feelings on my shirt sleeve, little girls are to be seen and not heard, or that I am pretty much just being selfish...well guess what, I finally have opened the window and just maybe I have an opinion, that means as much to me as your's does to you...

If there is one thing that I will never settle on is my children, feeling slighted by anyone because of a past relationship. I would rather shelter them and stay away, than to worry about someone's feelings being hurt over a bunch of bull.

It's simple...life goes on...be happy...with or without me.

I would like to say "Thank you" to my understanding friends, that have lent me a shoulder, or let me bend their ears in the past. You have helped me come out of my shell over the years and realize I do not have to relive the past, but take life one day at a time. Life goes on, and making my own decisions, is what is best not only for me, but my family.

I would also like to say "Thank you" to Ro and Scrap Girls for your inspirational muses, in the Scrap Girls Newsletters they do help us Scrap Girls keep hanging on to hope, faith, and happiness. I don't know some days what I would do without this creative outlet.

Time, Marches on...

WOW here it is the fourth day of March and I haven't updated my blog yet. Things have been a wee be hectic the last couple of days, sometimes I have to think to make sure what day it is.

Jordan got sick Sunday night/Monday morning and I just haven't readjusted from it all yet. Sunday he got up with a 101 fever, then by evening, we finally got it to break...only to come back with a whopping 103.7 at two in the morning. He sounded just like he did when he had pneumonia, so I snatched him up and went to the ER. We (Jordan and I) were in the ER, until we walked back in the door at 5:15am. No pneumonia, no ear infection, not his appendix (since he was complaining of his stomach hurting)....I get him back home and said have you went potty lately? Jordan: that sounds like a good idea, *LIGHT COMES ON*, his stomach quits hurting..and he falls right asleep about 5:30.....I guess it was just seemingly a 24 hour stomach virus of some sort.

They have had stomach viruses in the past, but never with that high of a fever!!! Scared the thunder right out of me....SO, I get Norm out the door and on his way to class, the kids off to school, and we crash for a nap. I get up to get Jadan off the bus, fix them lunch, and everyone is ready to go outside and play. It was a beautiful day. I enjoyed the sun, and warmth. Breanna and Samuel finally got home and wanted to go out for awhile before doing homework. I snagged my camera, and my results follow.

Breanna and Samuel are getting to that age where they want to be independant, but still have that twin urge to stick together. Oxymoron? I tried to snap a few pictures of them but Breanna was like "Ewww I don't want to take pictures with my brother"....GIRLS!!! Anyhow, I did get one good picture of them before she freaked out. I found out later she had been eating something and wanted to brush her teeth...why couldn't she have said that to begin with, instead of EWWW....LOL

EDIT: I let Samuel look at the layout, and he read what is said about making anything happen and he looks at me and says "You mean if I wanted to I could turn my sister into a toad?" BOYS!!!!...UGH!

With Easter just around the corner, I figured I had better get last year's pictures scrapped. So here are our Easter 2007 pictures. Yay, I am slowly but surely getting caught up....at least I like to think I am...LOL

In my never ending quest to make myself scrap about me...here is a picture I dug up of my Girl Scout days. It's about twenty years old...but another little something, people may not realize about me. Yep, I was a brownie, then a junior scout. I had some good times in scouts, and earned many-many-many badges. One day I will get around to scanning some of them and making another layout. So here is another little peek into my childhood, enjoy.

Since it's March, I needed to toss out another of my pages from our calendar that I made for family for Christmas. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did making it.

Mr. Samuel, usher's in March - Easter - and St Patricks Day!

Happy Birthday "Thing 2", I love you!

Playing with Breanna's Doll, I couldn't resist snapping this as I know your daddy would have a cow. Heehee, You will be a good daddy and make mommy a grandma one day!!

Happiest Birthday, My most favoritest little birthday guy in the world. So sorry Jordan is sick and I couldn't make it over today to give you big hugs from Aunt Cilla.

So hard to believe this time four years ago momma was calling me to let me know she was in labor, and I was able to be there when you came into the world. Where has the time gone?

Hope you had a wonderful birthday, when I talked to momma she told me about your bike and helmet...Can't wait to see pics.

We will see you Saturday for sure and will get Uncle Norm to make you a cake (I hope)....Surely everyone will be done with the ickies by then.

XXXOOO,

"Ella"
